I LOVE YOU, DAD.

Most days my Dad was larger than life. It is hard to believe that he is really gone. My first memories of him are walking side by side, holding hands. He seemed so tall, so strong, so invincible. Like many young girls, when I grew up I wanted to marry my Dad. By the time I got to my preteens, I knew we were headed for divorce. As I got older, I began to see my Dad as human. We had become too much alike. We knew exactly which buttons to push for maximum zing. As I got even older, I learned to forgive his faults, cherish the good times, and to revel in the memories of the music, the books, and the old movies he shared with me along our journey. He sent me a tape once that he entitled "a DLG production." It was full of "our songs" and it was a letter of love. He included a charm that said "Daddy's Little Girl". I had already had my first daughter by then, but he knew it was never too late to say "I Love You" in your own special way. No matter how old I get, how much time passes, or the distance between us, I will forever be THIS man's "Daddy's Little Girl."
